Colossal
Colossal was founded by Ben Lamm, a technology and software entrepreneur, and George Church, Ph.D., a geneticist and serial biotech entrepreneur, to develop technologies for the restoration of extinct species, the protection of critically endangered species, and the repopulation of critical ecosystems that support the continuation of life on Earth. The business uses CRISPR technology to help save endangered animals, starting with the woolly mammoth.
Colossal intends to produce genetic toolkits and support DNA databases to help in the restoration, diversification, and rewilding of endangered species through transparency through collaboration with NGOs, conservation groups, governments, and the general public. Ex-vivo development, as well as population-based sequencing and computational analysis of elephant and mammoth genomes, genome editing, and viral disease resistance, will be made possible by this effort and partnership.
Core Values:
– Duty to Preserve & Protect a Pristine Nature
– Respect for all Living Things
– Pushing the Humanistic & Economic Potential of Bioscience
– Virtue & Moral Good
